MILSATCOM Ground System Resident Technical Advisor [2021-58]

Infinity, an exceptional and growing small business, is looking for an experienced (3+ years) and cleared full-time Ground Systems Engineer in the California Central Coast Area for MILSATCOM ground system operational support at Vandenberg AFB.

The operations team needs your experience and skills maintaining and sustaining this vital satellite communications mission. You will perform technical advisor (TA) duties for an operational military satellite communications system in an operations environment as a member of the Advanced Extremely High Frequency Satellite Mission Control Segment (ASMCS) Sustaining Engineering Team.

The most important aspect of our mission is keeping satellite communications 100% available for US military users worldwide, from soldiers and marines on the ground, to worldwide command centers, to strategic USAF airborne platforms, to US Navy ships across the seven seas. • Maintain the smooth operation of the Milsatcom ground system at Vandenberg Air Force Base (SAFB).

• Provide day-to-day technical support to Space Force customer for the custom Satellite In-band Command and Control (C2) application suite, ASMCS.

• Investigate and analyze incident summary reports and ground observations to remedy operational problems and provide briefings to the community on the issues and results of data analysis.

• Provide technical expertise for anomaly resolution and perform safety-net staffing when complex operations require on-site staffing around-the-clock (24x7) or 1-hour re-call.

• Staff and support deployed mobile ground stations as needed by the customer.

• Perform long-range planning for critical events, such as spacecraft upgrades or payload uploads.

• Provide hardware, software, and database install support and troubleshooting.

• Provide post-software install checkout and validation efforts.

• Support launch and early orbit operations as well as Inter-segment test and On-orbit test activities.

• Coordinate changes for real-time operations with Space Force Mission Commander and other government contractors.

• Provide updates to crew checklists, technical orders, job aids and day-to-day procedures for Space Force operators.

Required Skills:

• The MILSTAR and AEHF mission and satellites and ASMCS ground system

• System Administration and Network Engineering on Sun (Solaris 11, SPARC and x86) Servers, RAID arrays and Workstations, Windows (7, 10, Advanced Server) Operating Systems, CISCO switches

• Analytical problem solving

• Anomaly detection, analysis, and resolution in satellite systems

• Data analysis and trending, both performing and using

• Working under pressure to restore mission capability quickly

• Being able to report to VAFB within 60 minutes on a 24x7x365 basis in the event of system anomaly

• Maintaining Sec+, or equivalent, DoD 8570 certification

• Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours and overtime when needed, and travel about 5% of the time to Colorado

• Working and communicating as part of an integrated team of military, civilians, and contractors from various companies

• Digging deep to find the right answers

• Holding and keeping a Top Secret security clearance (mandatory requirement)

Also Great to Have

• Experience with various MILSATCOM missions such as MILSTAR, AEHF, DSCS, WGS, etc.

• Experience with DoD classified systems and environments

• Experience, military or contractor, working with and understanding military satellite communications missions, especially in a cleared operational environment; commercial satcom experience also valued.

• A degree in a STEM field, or relevant equivalent experience
