Systems Engineer, Software Systems [2021-52]

Combined Orbital Operations, Logistics and Resiliency (COOLR)

Infinity, an exceptional and growing small business, is looking for an experienced (5+ years) and cleared full-time Systems Engineer in the California Bay-Area for MILSATCOM system development and sustainment support in Sunnyvale.

The sustainment team needs your experience and skills improving, maintaining, and sustaining this vital satellite communications mission and the ground systems that support it. You will perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses performed at all levels of total system product.

The most important aspect of our mission is keeping protected band satellite communications 100% available for US military users worldwide, from soldiers and marines on the ground, to worldwide command centers, to strategic USAF airborne platforms, to US Navy ships across the seven seas. The warfighters’ mission success is the measure of our success.

Your typical day

• Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems

• Analyses performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal

• Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints

• Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications

• Performs anomaly analysis and resolution on software systems

• You will find personal satisfaction in the satisfaction of the customer and success of the warfighter

Required Skills:

You’re Good At

• Engineering complex software systems for aerospace/satellite operations

• Anomaly detection, analysis, and resolution in software systems

• Software test and integration

• Performing requirements analysis and other systems engineering core capabilities

• Performing script development in Java, C, Perl, Python, or similar

• Working and communicating as part of an integrated team of military, civilians, and contractors from various companies

• Digging deep to find the right answers

• Constantly learning and growing

• Holding and keeping a Secret security clearance (mandatory requirement)

• Being part of a close-knit small business family

Also Great to Have

• Experience developing ground application software

• Understanding spacecraft subsystems, hardware, telemetry, command & control

• Necessary computer and programming skills used to develop maintainable code, perform unit testing, integration & regression testing

• Experience with web applications and satellite ground systems

• Testing in Lab environments

• Experience with DoD Secret systems and environments

• Knowledge and experience with software configuration management processes, practices, and tools (e.g. ClearCase/ClearQuest)

• Understanding the military’s satellite communications missions and operations

• Experience, military or contractor, working with military satellite communications missions, especially in a cleared operational environment; commercial satcom experience also valued.

• A degree in a STEM field, or relevant equivalent experience
