Database Engineer: Oracle, Postgres, MariaDB, & Others [2021-20]

Combined Orbital Operations, Logistics and Resiliency (COOLR)

Infinity, an exceptional and growing small business, is looking for an experienced and cleared full-time Oracle Database Engineer in the California Bay-Area for MILSATCOM system development and sustainment support in Sunnyvale.

The sustainment team needs your experience and skills improving, maintaining, and sustaining this vital satellite communications mission and the ground systems that support it. You will perform all of the typical duties and tasks involved with the management and administration of databases such as building SQL queries, database object creation and maintenance, form development and maintenance, and engineering to support improvements, migrations, and trading alternatives. Perhaps more exciting is that you would be part of a significant system upgrade and migration, doing the engineering to determine the follow-on product, then plan and execute the migration.

The most important aspect of our mission is keeping protected band satellite communications 100% available for US military users worldwide, from soldiers and marines on the ground, to worldwide command centers, to strategic USAF airborne platforms, to US Navy ships across the seven seas. The warfighters’ mission success is the measure of our success.

Infinity people are dedicated to mission success, doing it right the first time, not afraid of taking initiative to go above and beyond to get the job done, and love working for a company that puts taking care of you above all else. This contract is in year two of ten option years, offering long-term position security potential.

Your typical day

• Supporting the administration of existing Oracle databases and all that comes with that

• Participating in an engineering trade study on the Alternative to Oracle Database Software & Transition Plan

• Supporting the determination of alternatives to local Oracle database instances through trade studies and the development of any necessary strategies for migrating tables, constraints, PL/SQL packages, and triggers to a new platform

• Supporting all phases of transition and migration from existing Oracle database instances to a selected alternative, including software setup, installation, configuration and redevelopment efforts

• Supporting the transition of existing Oracle database administration tasks to a selected alternative database, including database configuration, backup and recovery and performance tuning

• Reviewing the expected configuration and maintenance requirements of a selected alternative to an existing Oracle database, and recommend refinements, improvements and performance enhancements to align with industry best practices

• You will find personal satisfaction in the satisfaction of the customer and success of the warfighter

If you pique my interest, we will call to schedule a virtual interview. If you are a great candidate, we then submit your resume to our customer for consideration. They will select a few candidates for an interview with the technical lead and hiring manager, then make their final selection(s). At that point I will make you an excellent offer to join the team.

All experience levels are considered. Even if you do not check all the boxes, if you possess a great combination of transferrable experience and a strong drive to learn whatever else is needed to succeed, do not hesitate to apply. Just make sure your resume clearly shows how your other experience can apply to this position to make it easier for me.

If this position is not for you but you know someone who might be great for it, please let them know!
