Satellite Operator / Maintenance Technician [2021-10]
PROGRAM:
Satellite Operations and Maintenance Support (SOMS)
DESCRIPTION:
Operating the satellites and maintaining the systems of the Naval Satellite Operations Center (NAVSOC). NAVSOC’s satellite operations require a truly worldwide network of both dedicated and shared antennas and ground systems. With primary and alternate Satellite Operations Centers located at Pt. Mugu, CA and Schriever AFB, CO, respectively, NAVSOC has three remote earth stations in Maine, Guam, and California for telemetry and commanding via organic Space-Ground Link Subsystem (SGLS) and EHF antennas.
The work will be performed at NAVSOC HQ located at Point Mugu, CA; Detachment Delta (Det D) located in Schriever Air Force Base, Colorado; Detachment Alfa (Det A) in Prospect Harbor, Maine; and Detachment Charlie (Det C) located in Finegayan, Guam.
Required Skills:
Satellite Operations and Maintenance, including Message Center Management, Naval Terminal Data Node (NTDN) Operations, KMI/EKMS, and Local Element Support.
On-Console Command, Control and Troubleshooting
Mission Planning and Scheduling
Ground Systems Maintenance
Polar EHF Broadcast Support
DEGREE REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree or related work experience
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
2-10 years experience performing military satellite operations and/or antenna maintenance
LOCATION:
Point Mugu, CA (including Colorado, Maine, and Guam locations)
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT:
Secret
