Mission Payload Specialist / RF Engineer [2020-50]

Infinity is searching for a a highly skilled, Mission Payload Specialist (MPS) / RF Engineer to support development of first-of-kind space vehicles and missions. In this position, you will provide System Engineering Technical Assistance (SETA) to the Space Rapid Capabilities Office (SpRCO).

Engineering responsibilities span technology domains including space rated hardware, software, sensors, and processors in an extremely fast-paced, responsive development environment. This SETA candidate will provide in-depth background on satellite vehicle bus and RF subsystems to improve program office insight into state-of-the art commercial and legacy mission systems, and C2 requirements and capabilities.

SETA Role and Responsibilities:

• Provides technical guidance to the development team and program manager and is responsible for ensuring sufficiency of all technical and programmatic requirements for mission system payloads

• Researches and stays apprised of developing technologically advanced payloads of U.S. and foreign space program interests

• Responsible to track and oversee payload deficiency reporting and analysis as well as analyze plans for deficiency resolution

• Primary contact responsible for payload design documentation to include system requirements, critical methods, high level design, and recommends changes or modifications to the mission system payloads

• Provide evaluation of trending data to validate nominal system performance or identification of system degradation

• Support system readiness, planning, preparation, execution, and evaluation for payloads--this may include launch and early orbit operations, on-orbit operations, and end-of-life retirement and disposal

• Provide mission data reduction and analysis and data delivery as required

• Interpret data related to operational problems, assist in root-cause determinations, and participate in corrective and preventative activities

• Perform all functional duties independently, with little guidance

• Employ highly specialized knowledge or experience to anticipate challenges

• Communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy—oral and written

Required skills:

• Minimum five (5) years of relevant classified DoD work experience

• Experience in spacecraft, and RF SATCOM payloads

• Knowledge of mission payload engineering, development, and manufacturing

• Understanding of operational environment and corresponding mission user needs

• Experience in DoD program management including program development and transition

• Experience with Integrated Master Schedules, and risk management

• Experience with Statements of Work (SOW) and Performance Work Statements (PWS)

Desired skills:

• Ten (10) years of relevant DoD work experience with SAP and/or SCI

• System Engineering Technical Assistance (SETA) to Government program office

• Experience with laser SATCOM

• Experience with rapid prototyping

• Experience with integrated air, space and cyberspace capabilities

• Experience with ACAT I/II level acquisition programs

• Experience using multivariable optimization in mission planning software systems

• Experience in planning and executing test campaigns for space ground systems

• Fluency with IC organizations



• An applicable engineering degree from a program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) or possess a Professional Engineering license • Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science (BA/BS) degree
